NHS Fife covers a wide area with the main hospitals comprising of Victoria Hospital (Kirkcaldy), Queen Margaret Hospital (Dunfermline) and St Andrews Community Hospital (St Andrews). Those who require admission for a severe respiratory illness would be admitted to one of these hospitals, typically the Victoria hospital and via the Admissions Unit. The Respiratory Service for Fife has a 30-bedded ward in the Victoria hospital with all major facilities offered across the hospitals.
Clinical research work is carried out with support of the Research and Development (R&D) office. R&D has a base in Queen Margaret, however, with recent support and service development, a new Clinical Research Facility (CRF) has now opened at the Victoria Hospital. The CRF is able to accommodate clinical studies with dedicated research space and staff on site.
