Global Health at St Andrew’s

The Global Health initiative was launched in 2013. The main focus of our group is the impact of global influences on children’s right to their determinants of health in sub Saharan Africa.

These global influences includes tax paid and avoided by transnational companies, debt cancellation and debt.

We have modeled  the relationship between government revenue and child and maternal mortality in order to estimate the impact of these influences, see the G-LIST tool.

We are also collaborating with partners to map and study the barriers to children’s rights, by individual country, for example we work with PACHA to study access to children’s rights in Malawi.

We have a long partnership and close links with the College of Medicine in Malawi. We also collaborate with colleagues in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique and South Africa and we are building links in West African. We also have partners in Vietnam, Thailand, the Netherlands and UK.
