The School of Medicine was delighted to host Jeane Freeman MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport, during her recent visit to launch the ScotGEM Programme.  Her words of support and praise for this ” innovative new programme” were echoed by the Principals of both the Universities of St Andrews and Dundee, who also celebrated the forging of a new partnership between the Universities.  Following opening speeches, VIPs from across the ScotGEM Partnership were given the opportunity to meet some of the key staff involved with the programme as well as some of the first cohort of students.  There was broad support for the programmes core ethos of delivering case based learning in the community from week 1 of teaching and excitement around the creation of a new type of medical educator, the Generalist Clinical Mentor (GCM).  Those interested in finding out more about the ScotGEM programme should contact Isla Tabberer, ScotGEM Programme Manager ([email protected])
