Season 1 : poem 5

Deputy Head of the University of St Andrews School of Medicine Julie Struthers reads Nothing by Selima Hill

Nothing

Selima Hill

Because she is exhausted
and confused,

and doesn’t want to argue,
and can’t speak,

she dreams of nothing
for a thousand years,

or what the nurses cheerfully call
a week.
