We have aligned our teaching materials with several of the more recent key WHO publications on training and delivery of care in low resource countries. Our approach can be tailored to all grades of health professionals from community health care workers delivering primary eye care to hospital-based ophthalmologists.
The workshops consequently combine the core competencies from these publications with the broad diagnostic potential of the Arclight package to deliver relevant and tailored eye care training.
The team have developed SIMulation tools for anterior segment examination, fundal reflex testing and direct ophthalmoscopy examination. These tools allow participants to acquire the basic hands-on physical examination skills needed to effectively use the Arclight device and then be objectively assessed.
The Atoms cards are a condensed summary of all the teaching content. They will serve as a quick reference card to reinforce knowledge gained from workshops. It is still a ‘work in progress’ but we hope in the next few months these will also be available.
