In April Lindsey Forbes, a final-year PhD student supervised by Dr Melissa Andrews and Dr Simon Powis, attended the Festival of Neuroscience, organised by the British Neuroscience Association in conjunction with The Physiological Society.  The 4-day conference is one of the largest neuroscience meetings in Europe and was held at the International Conference Centre in Birmingham.

During the meeting she presented a poster highlighting the work from her 3-year PhD entitled, ‘Using human iPSC-derived neural progenitor cells to increase integrin expression in the CNS’, which was well received.

Further to the fantastic plenary lectures and symposia covering a wide-range of neuroscience topics, there were a number of workshops and interactive session aimed towards early-career researchers including Grant & Fellowshop Writing and Careers Beyond the PhD, which she found particularly helpful.

She would like to kindly thank and acknowledge the funding from the School of Medicine and the Kozinn fund for enabling her to travel and attend the conference.
