Workshop for Malawi health system
Professor William Stones participated in a week long workshop framing a new national policy for quality management in the Malawi health system. The workshop included participants from the Ministry of Health, parliamentarians, professional regulatory bodies, health care education institutions, faith based and private sector providers and international development partners. Prof Stones facilitated a group working on quality standards for clinical practice. The work reflects increasing recognition nationally and globally of the importance of quality in health service delivery, going beyond numerical coverage so as to achieve impact on health outcomes.
